Here at Shady Lane Labradors we strive to produce quality, healthy labs with excellent bloodlines. We produce yellow, chocolate, and black English Labrador Retriever puppies. Our labs are registered through the American Kennel Club. We certify our labs hips and elbows through the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals. We have a great passion for the breed. We have been raising labs since 1999. We are extremely proud of our labs excellent bloodlines, full of champions. In every litter that we produce we make sure that the sire and dam have great temperaments. Most of our puppies go to homes where they run and play with children or serve as gracious companions to other family members. We are located in Concord, North Carolina about 20 minutes north of Charlotte. We maintain two separate locations, but work as one kennel.

About Labs
The Labrador Retriever is a strongly built, medium-sized dog possessing a sound, athletic, well-balanced conformation that enables it to function as a retrieving gun dog; the substance and soundness to hunt waterfowl or upland game for long hours under difficult conditions; the character and quality to win in the show ring; and the temperament to be a family companion. The main characteristics of Labrador Retrievers are their coat, tail, head and temperament. They have a double coat: a downy undercoat that keeps them dry and warm in cold water and a bristly outer coat that helps them repel water. The Labrador Retriever's tail, often described as an "otter tail", is thick at the base and tapers to a narrower point. It should not have a curl to it. It should, however, be held fairly straight. Their head is clean cut and broad, with hanging ears. They have powerful jaws. They have kind, friendly eyes. Their expression is alert and intelligent and conveys a kind, friendly temperament. The Labrador Retriever's best feature is its temperament. Labs are loving, people oriented dogs. They are happiest when they are with people. They are usually very patient with children and make wonderful family dogs. Labs do not have an aggressive nature. Labs are wonderful people dogs, more likely to lick someone to death than bite them. Therefore making them a great selection for the next family pet. Labradors tend to be easy going. There are two distinct lines of Labrador Retrievers: field lines, also known as American labs and show lines, also known as English Labs. Field line Labrador breeders breed with an emphasis on field or hunting ability, while show breeders of Labradors focus on conformation and temperament. The American Labs have more pointed heads and are not as broad. They usually are more active and energetic. The English Labs are more laid back in general. They have a blocky head, are very broad, and have a fat otter tail. The Labrador Retriever is a loving, intelligent and truly incredible animal!
